HCIG to host USDA dark fire-cured grading school

Hail & Cotton International Group will host a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) dark fire-cured grading course November 13-17, 2017, at its international headquarters in Springfield, Tenn.

The course, which will be led by USDA AMS Tobacco Training Specialist Bobby Wellons, will cover all aspects – from body and color to maturity and quality – of grading dark fire-cured tobacco according to the USDA AMS Official Grade Standard. For more information regarding attendance in the course, contact Will Borthick by email at w.borthick@hailcotton.com.

The announcement of the DFC grading school comes on the heels of HCIG’s continued commitment to training its employees based on the USDA AMS Official Grade Standard in all types of tobacco grown in the United States.

Earlier this spring and for the second consecutive year, HCIG sent representatives to the USDA’s flue-cured and burley grading schools, which were held in Raleigh, N.C. HCIG employees demonstrated a strong knowledge of grading leaf tobacco, finishing at the top of each class.
